Epping Library Progress: The Latest Report

Construction of the new library at Epping is progressing, with the internal layout and external appearance becoming increasingly evident.

The entry foyer and extendable hours computer room are positioned adjacent to the driveway on the south side of the building. A large staircase, leading to the second floor is a central feature of the library. Upstairs, passers-by can see the beginnings of four large south-facing rooms (group study, seminar room etc) with lovely, large windows, offering views over the surrounding area. The second floor also houses the counsellor's office, first aid room and librarian's office on the western side. The Loans Desk and library collections will be located on the ground floor. The large room on the north side of the building will be home to the gymnasium.

Harmony Day at Epping

Harmony Day is the official day for celebrating Australia's cultural diversity.  A very popular and festive Harmony Day was celebrated at Epping, with the Library providing the venue for Harmony Day opening speeches.  Numerous cultural artefacts and personal treasures provided a colourful backdrop to the proceedings, thanks to the kindness of students who loaned personal items; and the display skills of library staff Angela Blazevic and Dalith Hudson.

The Harmony Day celebration placed the cultural diversity of the Epping student community on show, with participants from Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Korea, Japan, China, Thailand, India, African nations, Spain, New Zealand, Macedonia, Hungary, Italy, Greece, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Timor Leste, Kurdistan, Turkey, Australia and many other places.

The Epping Library thanks Dimi Bouzalas for so generously sharing her photos of the event.

- Your device must be wifi enabled with any of 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g or 802.11n.
- Your device must have an SSL enable browser
Please note: Access via Linux devices has not been tested and therefore may not be possible.
