Is it a rabbit? Is it a bird? An art book mystery at Fairfield Library

Gotham City, Botany Bay, and a recording studio in Jamaica. What do these three locations have in common? Well, they are some of the places that come to mind when looking at the substantial display of new illustration books at Fairfield Library. One features artwork from the Batman comic's history, one looks at the sketchbook of Governor Hunter, who arrived with the First Fleet in 1788, and one has record covers from the legendary reggae label Studio One Records.
And that's not all. Fine art, fashion, rock music, graphic fiction, science: we have them covered. Be the first to take one of these gorgeous books home. There is also a book with a mysterious yellow creature on the cover. Some say rabbit, some say bird. See if you can find it.

InSync Client Satisfaction Survey.... one year on...

In 2013, the Library ran the InSync Client Satisfaction Survey; where several areas were identified as needing improvement or further development.
Those areas were: Communications, online resources, off-campus access, requesting resources and the library website.
So one year on... this is what the Library has done in response to staff and student feedback.

NMIT Library Lights It Up Blue for World Autism Awareness Day 2nd April 2014

NMIT Library helps shine the light on Autism Awareness.
Today is World Autism Awareness Day!
A day where we recognise all individuals on the autism spectrum and the families and friends who love them.
Each April 2, Autism Speaks celebrates Light It Up Blue along with the international autism community, in commemoration of the United Nations-sanctioned World Autism Awareness Day. Light It Up Blue is a unique global initiative that kicks-off Autism Awareness Month and helps raise awareness about autism. In honor of this historic day, many iconic landmarks, hotels, sporting venues, concert halls, museums, bridges and retail stores are among the hundreds of thousands of homes and communities that take part to Light It Up Blue.
Tonight, our iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge will Light It Up Blue for the cause.
To learn more about Autism Speaks and Light It Up Blue head to http://liub.autismspeaks.org/welcome
To learn more about Autism Awareness Australia head to their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/AutismAwarenessAustralia
To learn more about autism, come along to Preston Library and check out our collection on display.

Preston Reference Desk - Relocation & Disruption to phones

On Monday 17th March the Preston Reference desk will be relocated to a position closer to the stairs.

As the repositioning of the desk requires moving telephone and network cables, the task is somewhat more complex than just pushing a desk to a new position.

The Preston reference phone (ext 1349) will be unavailable from 7.00 am on the day, please ring 1363 if you need to contact Preston Reference desk staff.

A staff member will be working in the area to provide a reference service to students.

The aim of the relocation is to enhance customer service through a more strategically placed reference desk.
